SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year CAPM plans to award three scholarships to members' sons or daughters or grandchildren, as follows:

Harry Van Rhyn Memorial Scholarship

To qualify, a student must have a parent or grandparent who is a member in good standing of CAPM, be a senior in high school, and apply as follows:

  1. Sign up for and take the SAT exams given in Connecticut prior to Jan. 1.
  2. Sign and present to the school principal or guidance counselor a release form, requesting a copy of the student transcript on which the SAT scores must be noted. A copy of the release form may be obtained by calling the CAPM office at 203-488-2456, or by e-mail at capminc@sbcglobal.net.
  3. Write a 500-word autobiographical essay stating why you are applying for the scholarship, the name of the CAPM-member parent or grandparent, and your home address and phone number, and attaching a summary of your school and outside activities.

The scholarship award will be based on scholastic achievement (high school marks, rank in class, SAT scores) and supplementary activities.

May D. Warzocha Memorial Scholarship

To qualify, a student must have a parent or grandparent who is a member in good standing of CAPM, be currently attending college and is (a) at least a sophomore or (b) completing his/her second year in a 2-year program and (c) will be entering his/her junior or senior year in a 4- or 5-year undergraduate program. Application is made as follows:

  1. Write a 500-word autobiographical essay stating why you are applying for the scholarship, the name of your CAPM-member parent or grandparent, and your home address and telephone number. Attach a summary of your college and outside activities.
  2. Sign and present to the college a release form, requesting a copy of your student transcript (with school seal). A copy of the release form may be obtained by calling the CAPM office at 203-488-2456.
  3. Have a faculty member send a letter of recommendation to the CAPM Scholarship Committee.

The scholarship award will be based on scholastic achievement at the college level and supplementary activities while attending college.

Richard V. Bradshaw Memorial Scholarship

To qualify, a student must have a parent or grandparent who is a member in good standing of CAPM and meet either of the qualifications of the two scholarships described above.

 

If multiple scholarship awards are offered by CAPM, only one scholarship award will be made to the immediate family. Applications must be fully completed and postmarked no later than March 1. Please call the CAPM office at 203-488-2456, or e-mail  capminc@sbcglobal.net for complete details.

From 1977 to 2008, CAPM has awarded 55 scholarships.   Scholarships are funded by the following CAPM activities:

  • A Supplier Exhibit Program in conjunction with CAPM's March Supply Management Month Conference.
  • 50/50 Raffles at CAPM's monthly membership dinner meetings.
  • Affiliation with the Northeast Supply Management Group of ISM.
