Our client is one of the leading corporate gift and marketing solutions companies in US. As one of the few companies in the country that offers, both on an individual and high volume basis, quality gourmet food and spa & wellness products bundled in unique, keepsake/reusable containers with corporate logo or other customized features.
The distinctive packaging they use is designed in house and imported from overseas. All assembly and fulfillment activities are conducted at a 50,000 square foot fulfillment center. The company ships thousands of gifts daily during various high-volume holidays throughout the year from this location.
The company wholesales its products to national brick and mortar retailers and e-retailers as well as to distributors in the premium promotional products industry. In addition, the company recently launched a new division which distributes product on a wholesale basis through the premium promotional products industry.
Customization is a significant and integral part of this business and can consist of a variety of product features, logos and custom packaging to the needs of the customer. Common uses for the products are conventions & meeting gifts, customer service, employee recognition programs and other similar corporate purposes.

THE POSITION
Director of Operations
To keep pace with the rapid growth of the company and ever increasing quality expectations of customers and of the industry, the Director of Operations will oversee, manage and execute functions that will maintain and exceed these standards. The companys intense commitment to quality and efficiency will require the Director of Operations to interact heavily with sales, planning, production and shipping departments.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reporting to the CEO, this Position provides management and oversight for Production and Shipping manager and collaborates with VP of Inventory Logistics, graphics department, sales and customer service personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include:
(i) Managing and maintaining the efficient and timely workflow of all sales orders from receipt through production and shipping;
(ii) Assuring the highest level of quality in the production, packaging and shipping of product; and
(iii) Effectively maintaining production schedules and production costs as well as employee safety, productivity, and morale.
Specific job duties include, but are not limited to:
" Reviewing production levels with Production Manager & VP Inventory Management to create ship commitment dates and set production expectations.
" Regular communication with inside sales team and VP Inventory Management all situations that may cause production/shipping to be backordered to allow time for preemptive actions to be taken
" Ensuring all orders are shipped accurately in accordance to their purchase order

o Shipping details
" Ensuring all custom orders have been approved by customer and are shipped in accordance to their ship date.
" Managing workflow and production of custom features applicable to each order
" Managing shipping details of each order
" Oversight of processing of each shipment from completion of production to shipping.
" Performing on-going QC of production and shipping process for each shipment
" Partnering with multiple company departments and external team members to ensure solutions meet all business needs. Routinely working with Information Technology and Finance departments to ensure business requirements can be properly supported.
" Define and document Project Objectives. Create a work plan, schedule a project and identify the relationships between work tasks. Identify resources necessary to accomplish project tasks and the appropriate work effort required from those resources. Direct all personnel resources necessary for the project. Monitor the progress of tasks in the work plan and identify situations regarding change.
" Preparing effective written correspondence and effectively present information in a group setting. Communicate frequently with management and business partners to clarify and resolve system issues/ concerns.
" Maintaining proper lines of communication across entire project team.
" Providing input and recommendations to management for resources, budget, projects and priorities by communicating results, needs, schedules, and other tasks. Periodically measure and report issues related to quality and risk.
" Maintain the overall roadmap across production, shipping, and sales, managing prioritization and tradeoffs.

THE CANDIDATE
Education/Certification/Knowledge
The Director of Operations should possess most if not all of the following experiences and skills:
" Demonstrate broad knowledge of the business functions of the company, including order fulfillment, production management and Customer Service.
" Ability to multi-task and having strong organizational skills in a fast paced environment.
" At least 10 years of progressive experience in administrative and production workflow oriented positions
" Prior managerial responsibilities in a fast paced production environment.
" Strong quantitative skills
" Strong oral and written communications skills
" Unquestioned computer literacy

" Must possess a keen eye for product detail and appearance
" Enjoy working and interacting with customers, suppliers and coworkers in a positive and constructive manner.

" Ability to motivate other members of the organization to support projects and tasks for customers
" Effectively solve problems and find the best solution for both the company and the customer
" Motivated to consistently meet and exceed company expectations for productivity and accuracy.
" Willingness to lead by example, and assist with warehousing and shipping activities during peak volumes as needed.
" Ability to travel to company or industry specific events as needed
" Other duties as assigned.
