Headquartered in Glastonbury, Connecticut, Aero-Med is a distributor of disposable medical and dental supplies. We have five warehouse locations across the country to meet customer delivery expectations.
Those locations are Connecticut, Florida, Texas, Illinois and California. Centralized Customer Service and Management teams in Glastonbury enhance customer satisfaction with one point of contact.
Over 5000 line items are stocked. Aero-Med supplies gloves, gauze, alcohol prep pads, antiseptic towelettes, hospital packs and transport media among many other products. In an effort to differentiate Aero-Med from the competition a minimum of 4 weeks inventory is maintained to guarantee that all items are available immediately. The following full-time position is currently available:
PURCHASING AGENT
SUMMARY Coordinate activities related to the purchasing functions in the Company; monitors inventory to ensure adequate levels are maintained to meet customer demand; places orders and tracks receipt of inventory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1) Monitors reports to ensure stocking levels are adequate and
to avoid back order problems
2) Orders products several times a day to ensure an adequate
amount of inventory is on hand.
3) Develop Vendor relations with the reps to help with ease of
business flow
4) Source new products by contacting vendors/new vendors and
obtaining pricing
5) Set up new vendors and products - completes application etc.
Involves initial contact, getting pricing information and setting up the vendor in system, assigning code - obtaining acct number etc.
6) Performs other duties including receiving orders by entering
into inventory system, reporting shipping errors etc, tracking orders if items not received, sales analysis as requested (running reports and comparing data),
7) Oversees rebate contract files; reviews contract with vendors
to ensure current contract on file; enters information from contract into system; deals with vendors to request current contract.
8) Co-ordinates or assists with other projects as assigned. |

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree (B. A.) in business from four-year college; 2-3 years related work experience in the medical/lab industry.
APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT HAVE A MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS MEDICAL SUPPLY PURCHASING EXPERIENCE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with co-workers, vendors and customers; strong organization skills; attention to detail for monitoring inventory levels; ability to meet deadlines; analytical skills to determine amount to order; strong written and verbal communication skills; basic computer skills; software used: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, the Internet, ACCPAC.
