C.P.M. CERTIFICATION

The last day to register for a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) exam will be 12/31/2008. After registering,  there will be up to a year in which to take the exam. So the very last day to take a C.P.M. exam will be 12/31/2009 if you registered in 2008. If you have wanted your C.P.M. certification, now is the time to pursue it.  A certification program, instituted in 1974 by NAPM (now ISMtm), established standards by which the educational and experience levels of people in Purchasing, Materials Management, and Supply Chain Management are measured. Those who meet the standards, which includes passing a four-module examination, earn a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) title. Maintaining the C.P.M. designation requires recertification every five years. CAPM currently has over 175 certified members.

CPSM Certification

The expanding role of supply management requires a continuous expansion of knowledge in a rapidly changing environment.  The Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) qualification is designed to lead the profession by emphasizing the main components of supply management.

Senior management teams now look for professionals with expertise in multiple disciplines within the profession.  At the same time, advances in technology, methods and scope of supply management have increased the need for higher level education, training and certification.  The introduction of the CPSM ensures that supply professionals have the necessary skills to be successful in strategic supply management.

The CPSM testing process consists of three exams which address the main components of supply management.  The criteria for earning the CPSM qualification are:

· 5 years of full-time, professional supply management experience

· 4 year degree from a regionally accredited college or university

· Pass three exams or if you are a C.P.M. in good standing, pass the Bridge Exam.

CPSM will enable professionals to excel in 21st century strategic supply management.
